IL PARROT RESCUE |
|
Welcome,
Thank you for your interest in becoming a Volunteer within
the Illinois Parrot Rescue.
There is a vital assessment process that we do put our
volunteers through before we accept you as a definite IPR
Volunteer. The IPR requires dedicated and trustworthy people
to help and work with us, therefore applying to become a
volunteer at the IPR has a similar process as applying for
employment.
If you pass the Volunteer assessment process, you will have
the opportunity to choose from the following options that
are available at present:
Working at the IPR,
Providing feedback about the site, such as sending us Parrot
facts, FAQ and writing articles.
To rehabilitate behavior problem birds on your premises for
however long that particular bird needs, then returned to
the IPR.
Having the ability to adopt a bird from the IPR.
Invitations to join in on IPR events.
Volunteer Process Steps:
1. A written letter explaining the following (Must pass all
of the following steps):
List of parrot books and video’s that have been read and
watched, e.g.- Guide to a well- Behaved Parrot by Mattie Sue
Athan, etc (a minimum of two books and must include basic
care and behavior books)
List of bird related courses that have been competed, e.g.
Parrot behavior workshops, Currumbin wildlife course etc
(Parrot behavior workshop is a requirement)
A List of Species of parrots in which you have had contact
with for long periods and have an understanding of that
particular birds and species behavior, diet and housing.
List of your pet parrots, age, particular behaviors etc.
A hundred word paragraph explaining: Why you want to
volunteer at the IPR?
Two qualified references that are willing to talk on your
behalf, e.g. Avian Vet, Behavior Consultant, Employer etc.
2. Pet Behavior Workshop or Pet Behavior Consultation (If
you have attended the following please attach the details of
the workshop or consultation to the above letter.)
3. Standard Employment Resume attached with above letter.
4. Phone interview after all the above has been completed.
If you do not have the relevant experience and knowledge
expressed above, please do not be turned away. We still
would like to hear from you, so if you could please write a
detailed letter explaining what you can provide for the IPR
and what you would like to gain from being part of the IPR.
Before sending your application you are required to read the
Legal Information Guidelines click here.
Thank you for your time and interest.
We look forward to hearing from you soon.
Yours Truly
